Taste of Saratoga Raises More Than $47,000 to Benefit Shelters of Saratoga

On March 26 Taste of Saratoga, Shelters of Saratoga’s major annual benefit, raised $47,000 for the organization during a festive evening of sampling distinctive cuisines, music, and fun. More than 30 area restaurants cooked up their signature dishes for a crowd of close to 400 to dine on.

“This event would not have been possible without the support of our generous sponsors, participating restaurants, and attendees who helped make the event a success,” said Nancy Breen Lamb, executive director of SOS.

“The outpouring of support from the community has been truly remarkable,” she continued. “Area businesses really stepped up to the plate with donations for our silent auction, in-kind services, and rentals that helped keep our expenses to a minimum and bolster the overall proceeds of the event. Over the past two years we have seen a dramatic increase in revenues and participation, and we are excited to continue building on this success!”

The Jezzie Tree Duo entertained guests in the lounge, followed by The Ryan Jenson Band in the main ballroom. Guests enthusiastically bid on over 100 silent auction packages donated by area businesses.

The funds raised from this annual event enable SOS to serve the more than 400 homeless or at risk individuals that will come through its doors in 2009. SOS strives to ensure that every member of our community has safe and affordable housing. We also develop and maintain a range of housing opportunities and resources for low to moderate income families and individuals.
