HPRP - Homelessness Prevention Rapid ReHousing:
Assistance is available through Shelters of Saratoga to help rapidly re-house individuals and prevent homelessness. Homelessness Prevention Rapid Re Housing (HPRP) is a housing subsidy available to those who are currently homeless, or at risk and have a steady income that is below the Area Median Income. Up to fifty percent of the individual’s security deposit may be paid directly to the landlord.
The apartment must be inspected by the case manager and meet HPRP habitability standards. Clients must meet with a case manager once per month. Clients are expected to have an adequate income to eventually assume full responsibility for their rent. Clients must provide income verification and banking information.
The program is broken into three tiers of assistance where financial help is available to help clients cover the partial cost of their rent; ongoing assistance depends upon client need. The goal of the program is to end the cycle of homelessness. A case manager works closely with the client and landlord to settle any disagreements or issues that may arise.
